A dorm room operation Years before meeting Mark, when I was a junior at MIT, I had heard rumors of my peers mining bitcoin. After its value exploded, and along with it, the necessary computational and electrical power to mine it, I assumed that dorm room mining was no longer viable. What I hadn’t considered was the option of mining alternate cryptocurrencies, including ethereum, which can and do thrive as small-scale operations.

Hello, after lot of research on DOGECOIN and having purchased some coins and some small cloud mining contracts, I have reached the conclusion that cloud mining is scam and not worth the investment. So, I have decided to engage in mining myself.

Please, check the following facts and correct me where wrong: -DOGECOIN was supposed to have a max number of 100 Billion coins, but this has changed, to an additional 5 Billion per year, forever. -Difficulty of mining, appears to be stable and considering the expected annual supply of new coins is fixed, it would never increase or even if it does, would drop when new year starts? (what other factors can increase / influence difficulty???) -As DOGE is based on SCRYPT, having the right hardware / ASIC, would be able to yield a fixed / reliable result of coins every day, in contrast to most clouds, expect from being a scam most times, don't support scrypt but sha256, so even if they 'mine' doge, its actually btc converted, right??? -I have 'unlimited' FREE power (excess supply from solar panels that cannot be absorbed / paid by the grid / electricity network) Considering all these things, what would be the best mining hardware / ASIC, that is scalable to combine more than one units and easily make a mining rig, capable of producing 1 million coins daily and what would be the cost for it??? If you look at you see exactly when we switched to AuxPOW and doge mining died. The switchover to AuxPOW also killed p2p mining.

I personally still think it was a bad idea, but I doubt, that it will be reverted again. Also having free power is one thing, but you need to buy asics to mine or sacrifice part of the expected lifetime of your GPU.

Mining hardware is still expensive and. Buddy, I don't think you're listening. You should not mine the coin directly as YOU ARE GOING TO LOOSE MONEY, it is a scrypt based coin so your not gonna want a Sha256 miner. If you want to mine dogecoin go to any litecoin pool, like liteguardian or whatever workers better for you, and it will mine both litecoin and dogecoin for you. The LTC hashing power doubles as DOGE hashing power thus MAXIMIZING your profits.

No one is answering your questions because they gave you accurate answers already and you didn't like them. When they say mining DOGE is dead, it means simply that there is so much hashing power already in the network, and the coins are being divide up by them that the only way it's profitable is to mine LTC with it.

Now go out there, buy a scrypt miner and MAKE SOME MONEY! OK, I have just read about AuxPOW, now it makes sense.

Don't shoot, I'm new! Anyway, what is still unclear to me, is this: If all people are now 'mining' DOGE via LTC and shapeshifting address, doesn't this mean they actually just mine LTC and they exchange it for DOGEs??? If this is the case, it means the DOGE mining is dead and nobody mines it, just enthusiasts of the coin buy it in exchange for LTC. So, does this mean the coin itself is dead or going to die soon???

Also, who mines the 5.2 new billion coins each year if all are just exchanging LTC for DOGE???
