Fairly distributed without a premine, ICO or airdrop, Vertcoin is developed by community members working as volunteers and the project is wholly funded by donations. A finite resource similar to gold, you can rest assured that Vertcoin will keep your money safe from vested interests and ensure that transaction fees are proportionate and shared between a large number of miners. With Vertcoin, you can truly be your own bank. Designed to resist centralization Vertcoin’s algorithm is designed to resist the development of custom mining hardware and multipool mining, ensuring that transactions are validated by a widely distributed network and avoiding the selling pressure when large mining pools indiscriminately flood the market with freshly mined coins. Our developers have pledged to take whatever steps are necessary to protect this coin from specialized mining equipment and make sure that it will always be possible to mine with consumer grade hardware. This is great news for miners because it offers the opportunity for all miners to compete fairly with each other, and not have to risk falling victim to unscrupulous hardware manufacturers who may fail to deliver pre-ordered equipment. An address is the only thing needed to send or receive funds. It can be easily generated from any Vertcoin wallet.

Vertcoin addresses always begin with V and contain 26-36 alphanumeric characters. After a transaction is made, funds will usually clear in less than 5 minutes. There is a small fee to help with the upkeep of the network. This fee is in addition to the transaction amount. A transfer of 100VTC would incur a fee of about 0.001VTC. The term mining stands for the process of validating transactions on the Vertcoin network and keeping it secure. In return for work, miners are rewarded with newly generated Vertcoins. I'm looking for a critical and emotionally dislocated discussion about VTC.

First and foremost I hold an array of different coins, all of which I wouldn't consider to be pump and dump. I typically like to do a lot of research and invest for the long term -- the idea of keeping up with the news of every coin that I've invested into, which is what triggered me to write a post about VTC. I've been a largely invested holder for a few months and have mined VTC for two months straight(minimum of 18 hours per day). I've tried to help advertise and contribute to VTC socially, however I'm starting to lose a little hope recently.

Here are a few points that might make me look into another coin: • VTC market cap has had a bad fluctuation historically. We can't deny the fact that it has overall been a gain, but it does not look promising as it's trotting back down the overall market cap. This shows me that the overall feeling towards adopting VTC is much lower now. • VTC is very similar to LTC besides it's ASIC resistance. The VTC community stands by the fact that ASIC resistance is a key trait, which is why people should invest into VTC.

I agree however it seems that the general population does not care at all. People see that LTC and BTC are already up there, so whats the point in investing into VTC if it's only just slightly better than BTC and LTC -- due to it's ASIC resistance. • Rolling off the previous point, if VTC is only just slightly better than LTC/BTC, we can't deny the fact that there are coins with tech that are astronomically better than BTC and LTC combined. This leaves VTC in the dust as a potential candidate.

• Lightning network will solve everything, but it will just help hold BTC and LTC over VTC as per usual. I have a very big hunch that people will continue to ignore the existence of VTC because LTC and BTC are already up there, so there is little incentive to invest and hold. This point is combined with the previous point that there are way better overall coins on the market in general. • Lightning network is a topic of it's own, but there is already a lot of doubt surrounding why LN could potentially not work.

It could also lead to a much more centralized coin instead of retaining decentralization: • There is a large stigma forming against the foundations of BTC as the weeks go on, which should worry everyone invested into BTC, LTC, and VTC. This point is in regards to scalability, speed, and future proofing. These are points that many other alt coins address much better and aim to solve. • Atomic swaps are great, but what's the advantage of even considering a swap to VTC when again, BTC and LTC aren't going away anytime soon. There is no incentive at all it seems. We're looking at a coin that is ASIC resist and decentralized due to it's ASIC resistance.

I'm not seeing much of an advantage anymore since it's bound to run into the same exact issues as BTC and LTC are/will run into. It's effectively a copy pasted coin that's only a tad bit better, however I'm starting to realize that there are other much better coins.

Hi, I'm a trader who intentionally avoids any emotional investment, and I will outline my investment strategy and why I hold a significant portion of my portfolio in Vertcoin (for now). • VTC market cap has had a bad fluctuation historically. We can't deny the fact that it has overall been a gain, but it does not look promising as it's trotting back down the overall market cap. This shows me that the overall feeling towards adopting VTC is much lower now. This is something I looked into when I first bought in to Vertcoin.

What I noticed is that because VTC is still in development, excitement for this coin tends to rally around completion of development goals. Since supply and demand is local in both time and space, it means that demand 'bunches up' around the times development milestones get hit. How Much Money Do Vertcoin VTC Miners Make. This causes the price to skyrocket, then correct, then stagnate. Rinse and repeat with each new development milestone.

People see that LTC and BTC are already up there, so whats the point in investing into VTC if it's only just slightly better than BTC and LTC -- due to it's ASIC resistance. This is a timely feature of VTC that I think more people will care about in the future. As specialized mining equipment ownership coalesces (as all property ownership does over time), it will mean that mining organizations become increasingly powerful with respect to the bitcoin and litecoin development roadmaps.

This defeats the point of a decentralized currency as the future of those aforementioned currencies will eventually be in the hands of only a few. The fact that most people don't realize this yet is one of the major reasons why I'm invested in VTC - once investors get burned by major mining organizations, they will start to see the risks and migrate. Increased demand for a currency equates to increased value. • Rolling off the previous point, if VTC is only just slightly better than LTC/BTC, we can't deny the fact that there are coins with tech that are astronomically better than BTC and LTC combined. This leaves VTC in the dust as a potential candidate. I don't see this as a bad thing. The tech is simple and proven, and it's a minor upgrade that yields a high return on value.

However, this puts a lot of importance on a unified development team, which this coin has had for some time now (they need to keep up with BTC and LTC). As the communities of BTC and LTC become more fragmented, it will slow down their progress (see the recent forks of Bitcoin as an example of what a fragmented community and development team looks.like). • Lightening network will solve everything, but it will just help hold BTC and LTC over VTC as per usual. I have a very big hunch that people will continue to ignore the existence of VTC because LTC and BTC are already up there, so there is little incentive to invest and hold. This point is combined with the previous point that there are way better overall coins on the market in general. It will make these coins more interoperable. This means it will be easier to use with payment processors, etc.

Putting VTC on equal footing with BTC and LTC as a payment option (or at least makes that a possibility). • There is a large stigma forming against the foundations of BTC as the weeks go on, which should worry everyone invested into BTC, LTC, and VTC. This point is in regards to scalability, speed, and future proofing. These are points that many other coins address such better and help to solve. I love it when stuff like this happens because it leads to unnecessary pessimism and drives down prices. It's more important to look at the risks that caused these stigmas and whether or not we think they have merit. In short, look at the data and decide what it means to you.

The meaning other people place on coins just leads to irrational buying decisions. Don't do what everyone else does - do what everyone else will do before they know they're going to do it. • Atomic swaps are great, but what's the advantage of even considering a swap to VTC when again, BTC and LTC aren't going away anytime soon. There is no incentive at all it seems. More freedom of choice for coins - similar to lightning network, this means there is more potential for Vertcoin to be used with different payment processors.

Overall, if you're looking for a reason why VTC will be better than Bitcoin in the future, I can't give you one. Quite frankly, that's not what I'm looking for as an investor. What I'm personally investing in with VTC is a coin that resolves some of BTC's and LTC's core issues, is reliable and stable, and has a good short term future of ahead of it that will erode BTC's and LTC's market share in the relatively near future. Once VTC hits more exchanges, it's price will increase. As BTC and LTC experience more development drama, VTC's price will increase. If GPU makers ever start promoting VTC, then we can see increased adoption from gamers and again another price increase.

To me, VTC has a brighter short-term outlook than BTC and LTC, however, that's really all I can conclude with the data I have. No one can actually predict the future so investment will always come with some amount of risk. For me, the risk and reward for VTC balance out.

I really appreciate your entire response but without being lengthy about it, I don't feel that you're giving grounded answers. But opinions are opinions and I respect yours. You make a good point about advertising and I think that's what VTC and it's community is absolutely lacking.

The problem is, you can't really advertise something if it doesn't offer much benefit, which is what I have been trying to portray. Edit: I’m being downvoted for whatever reason however if you read the posters response, they tend to walk around directly what I’m talking about. • • • • • • •. Being vague and nonspecific is why the other people are calling you a shill or dismissing you for spreading FUD.. If vertcoin had a perfect solution to every possible criticism and every possible use case of course it would be the golden coin. If you were more specific about what you wish it did have and where you've seen it already implemented we might be able to say why vertcoin doesn't have it (such as valuing decentralization) or have it added to the dev's roadmap so it can be included in the coin in the future.

• • • • • • •. I suspect the reason you're being downvoted is simply phrasing - 'The problem is, you can't really advertise something if it doesn't offer much benefit, which is what I have been trying to portray' - is phrased like an objective truth. To me, the subjective value of being ASIC resistant is valuable and I do think that's very marketable (and will become more so over time). That said, I have no problem with your phrasing and I totally respect your opinion and the thought process by which you came to your conclusion =). At the end of the day, this is all just speculation until a coin is actually useful.

If you aren't a part of the target demographic for this coin, or can't relate to the target demographic, it's probably best for your emotional state to simply stay away from it. Having profited off of coins that I wouldn't use, I can honestly say it wasn't worth the stress of always second guessing a chunk of my portfolio, even if it ended up being profitable. We are all speculating on potential future value, and if it doesn't seem valuable to you, then staying away is probably the right call. • • • • • • •. This is something I looked into when I first bought in to Vertcoin. What I noticed is that because VTC is still in development, excitement for this coin tends to rally around completion of development goals. Since supply and demand is local in both time and space, it means that demand 'bunches up' around the times development milestones get hit.

This causes the price to skyrocket, then correct, then stagnate. Rinse and repeat with each new development milestone. That's great speculation and it also resonates with every coin.

Since BTC, LTC, and VTC are extremely similar to each other, are you as an investor expecting some kind of a development that will make VTC drastically different from it's other brethren? I'm failing to see anything that will bring VTC utility that's barely better than BTC and LTC. Looking at the vertcoin github, there hasn't been a single commit for 25 days -- possibly because of the holidays?

I whole heartily agree with you -- VTC is the main coin I have been mining for months with my GPU's.

However there are two issues here that we need to point out: • The first is that BTC and LTC have been out for a very long time. The fact that they're not ASIC resistant and have had little to no problem indicates that the necessity for ASIC resistance is great but not of top priority. We're worried about 51% attacks and a centralization of miners which is possible, but improbable. Lets pretend though that it is highly probable and that we need ASIC resistance -- do you really think that money is stopping these large data centers from buying alternative GPU's in order to mine ASIC resistant coins? Nothing is stopping them. They just don't see the profit in swapping to ASIC resistant coins yet, however if most coins went ASIC resistant you could bet they will just swap out their cards. • The second point is that newer currency is starting to consider non-mineable coins.

As a crypto community it's important to stay up to date with the latest and breaking technology, and there is a very big spotlight for coins that don't need to be mined.

I tried hard to paint the picture in my original post of how bad this actually is. If VTC is just barely better than BTC and LTC, but there are a handful of coins that are much better than BTC and LTC combined, whats the point of investing into VTC since it's basically a clone? It will make these coins more interoperable.

This means it will be easier to use with payment processors, etc. Putting VTC on equal footing with BTC and LTC as a payment option (or at least makes that a possibility). My comment was addressing the fact that all three are on the same level field right now. If all three get the same exact upgrade, then all three will still remain on the same exact playing field. There is still no incentive to use VTC over LTC and BTC.

I think you're missing the point of what I was trying to say. If something is being criticized on a fundamental level on it's scalability and non-future proofing ideologies, then there are much larger issues at stake. More freedom of choice for coins - similar to lightning network, this means there is more potential for Vertcoin to be used with different payment processors.

This is a positive, but there is nothing stopping people from exchanging their funds into whatever coin they want. Sure, they'll pay a little transaction fee, but if you really wanted a coin you would already have it by now. I'm failing to see a scenario where I would really appreciate atomic swaps. • • • • • • •.

I think the combination of good features alongside future LN capabilities + great devs make VTC a truly amazing and universal coin. What I currently ponder about more is why we as a community are not able to raise the 10000 vtc for the exchange fund - dafuq is our problem?! I mean there are several hundred people that donated already and they deserve every credit for this - but apart from the community core there is a majority that is not willing or hestistant to support things that will enable future success of vtc. We need more support than just 300 Spartans to get this 10k mutha down! How To Make A Bitcoin Gold BTG Mining Machine.

That's the only issue I have with vtc • • • • • •.
